On-page SEO is involves setting up your web pages and their components such as titles, meta tags, code and URLs so they are in accordance with the guidelines given by various search engines. A search-engine friendly website is easier for SE bots to crawl and that can have a great impact on its rankings.

Off-page SEO is essentially getting other web sites to "endorse" or vote for your web site by placing a link to your web pages on their site. It also involves some other tasks such as submitting sitemaps.
